From my baking blog, Bella’s Baking: a lovely plum crumble using our own homegrown Victoria plums.
It is plum time, so that certainly means the season of crumbles has descended upon us already. But that isn’t too much of a hardship. Crumbles remind me of childhood puddings. They remind me of my mum and gran’s cooking as it was both of their trademark desserts.
We had hardly any greengages this year thanks to frost and one tree dying 😦
But we did get lots of Victoria’s. So many, that I was instructed to make a crumble by my mum after my dad said they hadn’t ‘magically leapt into a crumble all on their own yet’. Sigh.
– 1kg of plums – Caster/ granulated sugar, to sprinkle over the plums
For the crumble topping: – 170g plain flour – 110g salted butter – 55g caster/ granulated sugar
- Preheat the oven 150C.
